Effective June 30, the Nebraska Medicine Burn Clinic will close. This coincides with the retirement of burn surgeon Debra Reilly, M.D., from Nebraska Medicine. All outpatient burn care will transfer to CHI Health St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center Outpatient Burn Clinic in Lincoln.

The Burn Clinic is located on the third floor of University Tower and shares space with the Wound/Ostomy Clinic. The Wound/Ostomy Clinic will remain in the space and its hours will continue to be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Burn Clinic scheduled patient appointments for six hours per week. Staff in the Burn Clinic also work at the Wound/Ostomy Clinic; they will remain in those positions after the Burn Clinic closes.

In September 2017, Nebraska Medicine transitioned inpatient burn services to CHI St. Elizabeth due to the highly specialized nature of burn care and the low number of patients requiring those services each year. Patients who come into our trauma center who require critical burn care are stabilized and transferred to St. Elizabeth. Those with less than 10 percent burn coverage do not require transfer.
