Don Leuenberger, vice chancellor for Business and Finance, today announced that David Melliger, administrator for the Department of Radiology, will join Business & Finance as interim assistant vice chancellor for Finance and Business Services on Nov. 1.
“Dave has extensive experience at UNMC in finance and administration,” Leuenberger said. “We are especially pleased to have him on the Business and Finance team.”
Melliger will fill the seat vacated by Del Lee, associate vice chancellor for Finance and Business Services at UNMC, who has been appointed interim associate dean for fiscal affairs for the College of Medicine.
Melliger previously served as president and owner of DM Consulting Inc., and was vice president of finance for The Nebraska Medical Center from 1997 to December 2001. Between 1980 and 1997, he served as UNMC’s interim hospital chief financial officer, director of hospital finance, associate operations director, assistant finance director, patient business services coordinator and budget manager. He earned his master’s degree in business administration – finance at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
“Dave has extensive knowledge regarding university operations and will provide for a smooth transition in the interim, ” Lee said.
