The coffee shop in the east atrium of the Durham Outpatient Center will relocated to Nebraska Cafe on Aug. 12 with the same offerings and hours.

The coffee shop in the east atrium of the Durham Outpatient Center, level two, will close at the end of business day Thursday, Aug. 8. The closure is necessary to accommodate an expansion and renovation of the Heart and Vascular Center, located near the coffee shop.

A new coffee shop will open Monday, Aug. 12, inside the Nebraska Cafe, located on level three of University Tower. The “Coffee Corner” will be located next to Hand Crafted Deli with the same offerings and same hours, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

There also are coffee shops located on the ground level of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, Storz Pavilion on level one of Clarkson Tower, and Laurtizen Outpatient Center, level one.

“We recognize the coffee shop in the Durham Outpatient Center (DOC) was a very busy location,” said Tom Hoffman, executive director, Food and Nutrition. “We hope our customers will visit us in Nebraska Cafe while we identify a new location in the DOC.”

The construction project will transform the atrium into a reception area for the Heart and Vascular Center, with new furniture and new carpet throughout the atrium. It also will renovate unused office space located to the east of the center into four new exam rooms and four new consult rooms. There will be no construction inside the center. The work begins Monday, Aug. 12, and is expected to be complete by Nov. 20.

There is also the OpPourtunity Brew coffee cart in the Munroe-Meyer east atrium, open 9-3 everyday. It is staffed by adults with disabilities and sponsored through the Munroe-Meyer program and Project Search.
