UNMC and Nebraska Medicine provide charitable support to help further the missions of many nonprofit organizations serving Douglas, Sarpy, Cass and Pottawattamie counties and Grand Island. Many support lifesaving research or help patients get the support and services they need when they are not at the medical center.
The following organizations provide valuable support for our patients. The med center’s presence at these events helps demonstrate our commitment to these communities. Please consider participating in a campus team, staffing an informational booth or even volunteering to lead a campus team for one of these corporately sponsored events.
Representing UNMC/Nebraska Medicine at community events is a good way to further iTEACH values, professional development and provide a better understanding of the communities we serve. To ensure alignment with UNMC strategic priorities, policies and procedures, to eliminate duplication of internal resources and to ensure all UNMC brand standards are met, all corporate sponsorship requests should be made by Bill O’Neill, director of public relations.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy and support survivors of suicide loss.

Event Name: Nebraska Walk for PKD

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a genetic disease that often affects entire families for generations. PKD is one of the most common, life-threatening genetic diseases, and those affected by it are in urgent need of treatments and a cure.

Event Name: Light the Night Walk

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk funds treatments that are saving the lives of patients today. LLS is making cures happen by providing patient support services, advocating for lifesaving treatments and pioneering the most promising cancer research anywhere.

Event Name: Walk & Run
Date: Sunday, Sept. 29, Elmwood Park
The Walk & Run the Park for Parkinson’s has something for everyone-the professionally timed “Shake-a-Leg” 5K race for runners, a half-mile loop for walkers, a park with plenty of space for the kids to run around, entertainment, and a resource expo full of vendors who provide Parkinson’s programs and services in the community.
