The 2020 Heartland Interprofessional Education (HIPE) Conference is seeking abstracts for the conference, which will take place July 23-24 at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in Omaha.

Abstracts are due by March 1 and can be submitted electronically. Those who submit will receive notification of acceptance by May.

HIPE will focus on interprofessional education and collaborative practice aligning with the definitions and competencies in the Core Competencies of Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPEC, 2016).

Authors are encouraged to submit proposals for poster or oral presentations that pertain to assessment, clinical education, competency-based education, curricular education, leadership/administration, student outcomes and technology related to interprofessional education and collaborative practice. Submissions will be peer-reviewed.

“The Heartland Interprofessional Education Conference is a great way to learn about the latest developments in IPE,” said Devin Nickol, M.D., associate dean for interprofessional education at UNMC. “This year’s attendees will experience sessions covering research, practice, and education, as well as hearing from national speakers.

“It’s also an opportunity to share your own work with colleagues, with abstracts accepted for workshop, poster or oral presentation formats. HIPE is a real bargain and a chance to attend a national-caliber IPE conference without major travel and time commitments.”

Keynote speakers will include:

  • Sarah Shrader, Pharm.D., associate professor, University of Kansas School of Pharmacy;
  • Hossein Khalili, Ph.D., director, University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education; and
  • Andrea Pfeifle, Ed.D., associate dean for interprofessional health education and practice, Indiana University Clinical Affairs.
