UNMC’s pre-party for “Night of a Thousand Stars” on Dec. 3 netted more than $6,000 for the Nebraska Aids Project (NAP).

The UNMC pre-party was hosted by three UNMC staff members — Keith Swarts, director of UNMC Business Services; Mike McGlade, assistant to the dean of the UNMC College of Medicine and administrative director of the department of internal medicine; and Susan Swindells, M.D., professor and chair of HIV-AIDS research, department of internal medicine/infectious disease section.

The nearly 200 people attending the UNMC party were treated to gourmet hors d’oeuvres and a memorable evening in the beautifully decorated Omaha Women’s Club, Swarts said.

When the pre-party was over, guests proceeded to the Holiday Inn Central to take part in the citywide party and eat desserts provided by some of Omaha’s finest restaurants. This year’s theme for the citywide party was “Life is a Cabaret.” Entertainment included a Broadway musical revue followed by music provided by The Confidentials.

NAP officials reported that more than $165,000 was raised through all the Night of a Thousand Stars pre-parties held around the city and the main party at Holiday Inn Central.
