Dr. Pick, Murry receive grant from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy

Amy Pick, Pharm.D., associate professor and assistant dean for experiential programs in the UNMC College of Pharmacy, is a 2020 recipient of a Teaching and Learning Grant from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy for a proposal written with UNMC’s Janice Murry and collaborators from the University of Iowa.

The proposal, “Use of Journey Mapping and Design Think Practices to Assess Professional Development,” grew in part from a design thinking boot camp held in November by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

Panelists to discuss COVID-19 impact on agriculture industry

iEXCEL, in conjunction with the UNL Extension Office and the UNMC Rural Health Initiative, will host a Facebook Live event on May 26 titled “Pandemic Related Stress in Rural Nebraska.”

The 4:30 p.m. presentation, hosted by Nikki Carritt, director of Rural Health Initiatives at UNMC, is targeted to agricultural producers, farmers and ranchers. The following panelists will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the agricultural industry:

  • Cate Jones-Hazledine, Ph.D., licensed psychologist and owner, Western Nebraska Behavioral Health, Rushville, Neb.; co-director, BHECN Panhandle
  • Glennis McClure, extension educator, Farm & Ranch Management Analytics, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
  • Tara Wilson, Ph.D., associate professor of counseling at Chadron State College, co-director, BHECN Panhandle

Information and resources also will be provided to address pandemic-related stress.

NASA Nebraska grant program accepting applications

Informational Zoom meetings will be held next week on the NASA Nebraska Fellowship and Mini-Grant Competition.

Applications are due June 30 for the awards. The NASA Nebraska Space Grant awards fellowships for student research and educational opportunities and mini-grants to Nebraska educators and researchers. The Zoom sessions will be held:

The Restaurant at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center offering carryout, pickup, delivery

The Restaurant is now accepting orders for carryout, curbside pickup and delivery (delivery charges are based off of order total and location). See the takeout menu. The takeout menu is being offered from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. All food orders are individually boxed and include disposable flatware and napkins.
