There’s some exciting news when it comes to food and beverage at the medical center.

A new Starbucks will be opening Monday, June 1, in the west atrium of the Durham Outpatient Center.

The full line of Starbucks branded food and beverage items will be offered and the store will feature a retail area where guests can purchase seasonal Starbucks goods, bulk coffee and reusable cups and mugs. Starbucks gift cards can be purchased and redeemed at this location.

Employees will be able to use their ID badges for purchases, similar to any of the other food and beverage locations at the med center.

Similar to other food destinations on campus, additional safety protocols will be in place. This includes the removal of the self-serve condiment station, the use of social distancing floor decals and the installation of additional hand sanitizer stations and Plexiglass dividers.

Starbucks hours of operation will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Also, The Restaurant at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center is now accepting orders for carryout, pickup and delivery. Delivery is only available throughout the med center and charges will be based off the order total and location.

The takeout menu is available from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Orders are individually boxed and include disposable flatware and napkins. Please provide two days advance notice for any orders more than 10 meals.

Cost center number or credit card payment can be made over the phone or at time of pickup. To order, call The Restaurant at 402-552-9860.

Will we be able to pay and mobile order with the Starbucks ap at this location?

  2. UNMC Today Editor says:

Unfortunately, licensee stores are unable to use the mobile ordering app as this technology is reserved for the corporate stand-alone stores. However, we will have the capability to use the app for payments in store.
