Nebraska Medical Center among world’s best hospitals

Nebraska Medical Center is once again among some elite company in Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2020 ranking, checking in at No. 54 on the list of best hospitals in the United States. Last year, Nebraska Medical Center was ranked No. 56.

That puts Nebraska Medical Center in the top 1% of hospitals in the nation, with the American Hospital Association listing 6,146 hospitals across the nation.

The World’s Best Hospitals is based on a number of factors, including recommendations from medical professionals, results from patient surveys and key medical performance indicators.

Nebraska Medical Center joins other hospitals like Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General on the list, which includes 281 of the best hospitals in the United States.

Nebraska Medical Center is the only hospital in Nebraska to make the list.

“As our health care workers continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, this recognition is especially meaningful,” said James Linder, M.D., CEO of Nebraska Medicine. “Our most valuable resource is the people who provide extraordinary care each day. The support our colleagues receive from the community is an incredible asset in helping the med center earn such a distinguished honor.”

Newsweek ranked hospitals in 20 countries including the U.S., Canada, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Israel.
