Vaughn named VP of operations at Bellevue Medical Center

Effective July 1, Kelly Vaughn, director of surgical services at Nebraska Medicine, will become the new vice president of operations at Bellevue Medical Center. It was announced in February that Sue Nuss, Ph.D., who is currently in this position, would devote her time to her chief nursing officer responsibilities and as part of the NExT project, develop a network of post-acute partners for the system.

Vaughn has worked for the organization for more than 20 years. She began her career as a patient care technician in April 1998, moving onto staff nurse positions at Nebraska Medical Center, before moving into leadership in October 2009, as an associate nurse manager for the Adult Progressive Care Unit. She went onto manage the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and later Endoscopy Services before assuming her current director position in May 2015.

“Kelly has experience in the inpatient, procedural and ambulatory surgical arenas,” Dr. Nuss said. “Over the years, she’s demonstrated her ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues and providers. I feel confident handing over the reins to Kelly.”

“I believe Kelly will do an exceptional job leading Bellevue Medical Center,” said Jim Linder, M.D., CEO. “She understands the important role the hospital plays in serving the Bellevue community. Kelly has demonstrated her commitment to the success of our organization. I am excited to see her assume this role as I know she’ll do a great job.”
