The Munroe-Meyer Institute Diversity and Inclusion Council’s executive committee will hold its first meeting this week. The council has been formed to assist MMI as it works to promote inclusion and diversity and grapples with the challenge of structural racism facing not only the institute, but our university, state and nation.

As leaders of the council, we’re excited that MMI leaders have recognized the need for change. But leaders — of an institute, a department, a program or a council — cannot create change on their own. Input from faculty, staff, students and families served is vitally important.

We need you.

We need your commitment. We need your passion. We need your ideas.

We ask you to share your stories, even painful ones. We will ensure they can be shared confidentially.

We ask you to share your aspirations, even if they seem impossible. We promise, we are aiming high.

MMI is a wonderful institution. We can make it better, working together, with a commitment to change, to inclusion, to diversity. Come dream with us.

And then, let’s get to work.

I appreciate seeing this! MMI has taken some very important steps in moving the needle in the areas of DEI! Another great example for our campus community! I look forward to hearing more about your efforts.
