Corporate Cycling Challenge opens Aug. 16

The Corporate Cycling Challenge is Aug. 16.

Once again, UNMC/Nebraska Medicine cyclists have been challenged by CHI Health to see whose team can post the most mileage in the event, said Peter Pellerito of the UNMC Center for Healthy Living.

This event is a bike tour, not a race, so cyclists of all abilities can ride. The winner is based on the number of miles team members travel. Employee family miles count half toward our corporate team point total. Tour distances include 10-, 25- and 42-mile options.

All tours begin and end at this year’s new location — the Capitol District Plaza at 11th Street and Capitol Avenue. Due to COVID-19, there will be no mass start, and additional precautions will be in place

The UNMC/Nebraska Medicine Center-CHI Health team challenge is a friendly tradition. UNMC/Nebraska Medicine won in 2016, 2018 and 2019, while CHI Health won in 2017.

Ride organizers have created an on-line sign-up. Register as a member of the UNMC/Nebraska Medicine team.

Registrations close July 25. Med center employees ride free and family members pay $5. Riders also can order optional T-shirts for $10.

Proceeds from the ride benefit the Eastern Nebraska Trails Network.
