How I fell in love with genetics and metabolism: I majored in computer science before attending medical school at Creighton University. This sparked a desire to utilize programming in medicine and drew me to genetics. While training in a combined pediatrics-medical genetics residency, I discovered my passion for the diagnostic work-up and treatment of patients with inborn errors of metabolism. The most rewarding experiences have been the ability to intervene in management. This is a specialty of rare and difficult diagnoses that allows opportunities to help patients and their families in their journey.

Education:

  • MD, Creighton University, Omaha, 2015
  • Residency, pediatrics-medical genetics, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, 2019
  • Fellowship, medical biochemical genetics, Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, 2020

Memberships:

  • American College of Medical Genetics
  • Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders
  • American Medical Association

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I am a poor trip planner, but a good travel companion.
  • Despite having no team from Nebraska, the NBA is my favorite league.
  • I still play video games with my college friends.
