Researchers at UNMC are looking for healthy men age 40-50 for sperm donations. The samples will be used to look for a link between age and mutations in sperm cells that could lead to cancer in children. The study is funded by the NIH (IRB#166-19-EP).
About the study:
This study will look for mutations in the sperm cells of healthy men that may cause cancer in children. The study will help see if age can affect the chances of cancer in children. Participation will involve a scheduled Zoom meeting of about one hour or less to review the consent forms and general information and answer brief health and lifestyle questions. During this meeting, we will schedule a time and location where you pick up materials to store sperm samples and further instructions on how to deliver them on a future visit.
The final visit will last about 20 minutes as the sperm sample is checked.
The study is seeking men who:
- Are between the ages of 40 – 50
- Are non-smokers
Expectations for participants:
- One Zoom meeting about one hour
- Second visit about 10 minutes
- Third visit about 20 minutes
The second and third study visits will occur at UNMC’s Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. There are no health risks or benefits associated with a donation. Donors will be compensated.
