UNMC to honor 30-year service award recipients — part 1 of 3

Five UNMC faculty members will be receiving 30-year service awards during the Annual Faculty meeting Thursday, April 11 at 4 p.m. in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater. This week, UNMC Today will highlight the award recipients from the College of Dentistry, College of Nursing and the College of Medicine. Today’s focus is on Stanton Harn, Ph.D., of the College of Dentistry.

College of Dentistry

Stanton Harn, Ph.D., is a professor of oral biology in the College of Dentistry where he teaches gross anatomy/head and neck anatomy to dental hygiene, dental and graduate students.

He has received more than 25 outstanding teaching awards from the College of Dentistry, UNMC and the University of Nebraska Alumni Association. Since 1973, Dr. Harn has organized anatomy lab demonstrations for high school students. From 1988 to 1996, he directed the Children’s Dental Health Carnival, the largest carnival for children in the Midwest dedicated solely to dental health.

In 1978, Dr. Harn started the College of Dentistry Museum, which is home to the largest collection of dental artifacts in the Midwest. He continues to serve as museum curator. Dr. Harn also tries to stay active in anatomical research projects.
