COVID-19 testing timeslots full; walk-ins cannot be accommodated

Ted Cieslak, MD, interim executive director of the UNMC Office of Health Security, announced Saturday afternoon to UNMC faculty, staff and students that the COVID-19 testing program being held today and Tuesday on the Omaha campus, had filled all testing slots and walk-ins could not be accommodated.

“The response to our initial pilot program was overwhelming,” Dr. Cieslak wrote. “Although we wish we could provide testing to every member of our campus community who desires it, laboratory capacity and a number of other factors severely constrain the number of tests we can perform over the course of this two-day pre-Thanksgiving effort.”

All available timeslots for today’s and Tuesday’s sessions, including this evening’s student-only session that had been added on Nov. 20 and extended on Nov. 22, are filled with pre-registrants.

As a results, walk-ins cannot be accommodated at the sessions.

Dr. Cieslak offered information on alternative testing opportunities:

Those who are experiencing symptoms should contact the Student Health Clinic (402-559-7204) or Employee Health Clinic (402-552-3563) as appropriate.

Those not experiencing symptoms who still would like to be tested can find additional testing opportunities in the region or in their home communities:
