Ehab Saad Aldin, MD

Ehab Saad Aldin, MD, is a new faculty member at UNMC.

  • Name: Ehab Saad Aldin, MD
  • Hometown: Hama, Syria
  • Title and department at UNMC: Assistant professor, UNMC Department of Radiology, Division of Interventional Radiology

Research/professional interests:

  • Hepatobiliary interventions

  • Quality improvement of common interventional radiologic practices.

How I fell in love with interventional radiology: Ever since I was in medical school, I decided to take my time looking for what would be my future specialty. I gravitated toward procedural specialties, but I also wanted to learn more about integrating imaging with pathology and its diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Interventional radiology seemed to fit what I was looking for. Vascular and interventional radiology remains one of the few specialties that many medical students, early residents and even some non-radiology faculty are not exposed to on a wide enough basis for them to understand, although those who understand its versatility appreciate how vital it is for a wide variety of patients. Since it is a relatively newer field, it has more room for expansion through research and other clinical application than some other specialties.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in biology, American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon
  • MD, American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon
  • Internship, internal medicine, Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland
  • Residency, diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa
  • Fellowship, vascular and interventional radiology, UNMC

Memberships:

  • American College of Radiology
  • Radiologic Society of North America

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I come from a family of physicians, including my five other siblings.
  • I grew up in Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon before moving to the U.S.
  • I used to sing at the university choral society, and we went to Carnegie Hall (twice!).
