UNMC launches monthly ‘Conversations for Inclusive Excellence’

Beginning Jan. 12, the UNMC Office of Inclusion will host regular “Conversations for Inclusive Excellence” for all UNMC faculty, staff and students.

Sheritta Strong, MD, director of inclusion, will moderate the virtual sessions, which will run from 2 to 3 p.m. The first session will be Tuesday, Jan. 12, but subsequent sessions will take place the second Thursday of every month. Participants can join the meeting via Zoom.

During the sessions, individuals will engage in meaningful and, at times, uncomfortable conversations to co-create understanding. Participants also will gain tools to continue the dialogue within their departments and offices. The monthly topics will challenge participants and the assumptions we all make consciously and unconsciously.

On Jan. 12, participants will explore themes of awareness and ownership through cultural humility. In support of the rollout, Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, plans to join the Jan. 12 session and all subsequent conversations.
