Parking permit renewals begin June 1

If you currently park on UNMC’s Omaha campus or the Nebraska Medical Center campus, your permit will need to be renewed soon. Beginning Tuesday, June 1, the UNMC Parking Portal will be open for parking permit renewal or purchase.

Parking rates for July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022, will not increase and will remain the same as current rates. Review parking options and monthly rates on this map.

All faculty, staff and colleagues with a valid parking permit should complete the online renewal by Friday, July 30. If renewal isn’t completed by the July 30 deadline, your current permit will be cancelled, your assigned lot will be forfeited, and a new application must be completed. Renewals that occur after July 30 must be made in person, via fax (402-559-3500) or by emailing a completed application to parking services.

UNMC and Nebraska Medicine recognize that some faculty, staff and colleagues may be in the process of determining their future work setting, which could include working on-site, working off-site or some combination of the two. Here are some guidelines to help you make a decision in whether or not to renew your permit:

  • If you expect that you will be primarily on-site, you should renew your parking permit as normal.
  • If you know that you will be working off-site and will rarely come to campus, then you may want to cancel your permit. If you would rather wait until you’ve confirmed your off-site work status, then you can renew as usual and cancel your permit once you have confirmed you will not need your parking spot. If you do need to come to campus, then you will use daily rate parking.
  • If you are a hybrid employee and regularly work at least one full shift a week on campus, you should renew your parking permit as normal or use daily rate parking.

To renew your current permit, log in to the UNMC Parking Portal with your network login ID and password. All UNMC and Nebraska Medicine employees have an account. If you are using the system for the first time, you will need to enter your primary vehicle information. Do not log in as a guest, as you will not be able to access your current parking information or save your vehicle information for future use.

As part of the renewal process, you will be asked for your home address so that your new parking permit can be mailed to you. Please note this permit is for a two-year renewal, so the price displayed includes the cost of parking from July 2021 to June 2023. You will not pay this balance at one time. When you select “pay now,” you will be authorizing prorated payroll deduction for payments.

If you currently park with a carpool parking pass, you will need to visit the UNMC Parking Services office in person. Parking services is located inside the Student Life Center at 3908 Jones St., on level two inside the UNMC Bookstore.

If you choose to cancel parking, you must notify parking services between June 1 and July 30, otherwise the parking payroll deduction will continue. You can notify Parking Services via email or by calling 402-559-8580.

As a reminder, parking fees do not generate excess revenue for the medical center. Parking fees cover such annual operating expenses as ongoing repairs and maintenance of lots. Fees also cover land purchases, snow removal, security and enforcement, equipment, lot improvements and administrative costs.
