The job training and mentoring program Step-Up Omaha! will return to UNMC this month.

The seven-week summer program will run from June 7-Aug. 6. New interns will start at their worksites on June 21 following two weeks of employment training.

“UNMC departments are excited and anxiously awaiting the return of the Step-Up student interns to campus,” said program coordinator Evelyn Grixby.

Participating departments include human resources at both the UNMC and UNO campuses, the UNMC chancellors office, academic affairs, pediatrics, the Child Health Research Institute, the McGoogan Health Sciences Library, the general supply mailroom, the Munroe-Meyer Institute and the Center for Healthy Living.

New student interns will receive one-on-one on-the-job training and career exploration.

Warren said she is proud UNMC continues to be a part of this program.

“We are so fortunate to work in an environment where leaders see the importance and know the benefit of having these interns on campus,” Warren said. “Evelyn Grixby does a wonderful job coordinating the UNMC Step-Up Program, and I am sure this year will be a positive experience for all involved.”
