Seella Nimmo, DO

Seella Nimmo, DO, is the College of Medicine resident of the month.

Name: Seella Nimmo, MD

Medical school you attended/year you graduated: Creighton University School of Medicine, 2018

Residency/fellowship at UNMC: Physical medicine and rehabilitation

Program director: Michael Weaver, DO

How long is your training program and how long have you been at UNMC? My training program is four years, and I am currently in my final year of residency.

What do you like the most about your training program?

I most appreciate my co-residents and the friendships that we have established over the years. Being involved in a newer residency program at UNMC has certainly presented various challenges, but the support and camaraderie from my peers has provided a strong foundation upon which we all continue to grow.

What challenges do you foresee in graduate medical education in the future?

I think an ongoing challenge for graduate medical education both now and, in the future, will be the continued advocacy for the health and wellbeing of residents/fellows. There has certainly been an increased awareness for the unique issues that trainees face along with implementation of strategies to try and combat these issues. As with anything, however, there is always room for improvement and growth.

List some accomplishments that you are proud of:

  • Being elected secretary of the House Officer’s Association
  • Having an abstract published in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation journal

Tell us three things about you that others may not know:

  • I have a terrible binge-watching habit when it comes to television, especially Korean dramas and detective/crime series.
  • My birthday is on Groundhog Day.
  • I love theatre/musicals and even participated in a few productions when I was younger.
