UNMC HR takes lead in applying technology applications

Is your position description up to date?

Does it take time to modify your job classification?

Well, that is about to change.

UNMC is taking the lead in applying technology to help faculty and staff update non-faculty position descriptions, compliance requirements and classification or job evaluation related to that position.

UNMC will welcome a new automated, Internet-based management system in Human Resources that will help create, modify and update job positions.

Beginning July 10, UNMC is launching its new Jobs@ Position Description, Classification and Compliance Module, which will work in conjunction with the Jobs@ Recruitment module.

“This is a major enhancement to the Jobs@ platform,” said Rod Kelly, division director, Strategic Staffing and Compensation, UNMC Human Resources. “It will benefit the entire campus and provide the most comprehensive Web-enabled job, position and compliance workflow management system.

“The amount of time it’s going to save employees is amazing.”

The new customized software module will integrate seamlessly with the Jobs@ Recruitment module, which UNMC began using two years ago.

The user-friendly module, which provides 24-7 on-line accessibility, allows users to:

  • Create and modify position descriptions;
  • Create requisitions based on the position description;
  • Ensure that information is consistent, accurate, relevant and current; and
  • Ensure efficient and effective time management.

“This provides the platform to ensure that we have accurate and up to date documentation to recognize what job duties our employees are performing in their positions. It supports the compensation objective of internal equity for all employees.” Kelly said.

The Jobs@ Position Description, Classification and Compliance Module will improve customer service by shortening the time spent updating, modifying or submitting position descriptions and in turn, will automatically notify users as to the status of the request.

“It’s a phenomenal system,” Kelly said.

All faculty and staff, who create, modify and/or need access to non-faculty position descriptions, are strongly encouraged to attend any of the following orientation sessions:

  • Tuesday, June 13 — 8:30 to 10 a.m., College of Nursing, Cooper Auditorium

  • Monday, June 19 — 8:30 to 10 a.m., Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater
  • Wednesday, June 21 — 1 to 2:30 p.m., College of Nursing, Cooper Auditorium
