Jessica Ehule, CityMatCH director of programs and member of the UNMC Department of Pediatrics’ Child Health Policy Division, has been recognized as one of the "40 Under 40 in Public Health."

The de Beaumont Foundation announced its 2021 list on Sept. 14 after reviewing applications from hundreds of rising leaders in public health. The cohort was selected by a distinguished panel of public health professionals for their leadership and impact on their community’s health.

"At a time when health professionals are being required to adapt and take on monumental challenges, we are incredibly proud of these leaders," said Brian Castrucci, DrPH, president and CEO of the de Beaumont Foundation. "We created the 40 Under 40 initiative to recognize and tell the stories of rising leaders who are making a difference in communities across the country. By promoting their work and accomplishments, we hope to attract and inspire a new generation of leaders."

"I am honored to be recognized as part of the de Beaumont Foundation’s 2021 class of the 40 under 40 in Public Health," Ehule said. "It is a privilege to serve as a maternal and child health professional focusing on health and racial equity, capacity building for local-level leaders, and systems change. I am committed to the achievement of equitable health outcomes for all, and I look forward to the opportunity to expand my knowledge and reach by learning from and with my fellow honorees."

In a joint statement, Ehule’s supervisors, Chad Abresch, PhD, executive director, CityMatCH, assistant professor and vice chair of pediatrics, and Denise Pecha, deputy executive director of CityMatCH, said: "Jessica is a fantastic leader who prioritizes community voice and leads with excellence. We are so proud of all she does and thankful to the de Beaumont Foundation for recognizing her in this much-deserving way."

The de Beaumont Foundation released its first class of 40 Under 40 in Public Health in May 2019.
