Question 4 – This picture shows a view of the University Hospital that hasn’t been seen for many years. Where is it? Where does the door in the middle lead? What was built in place of this parking lot?

picture disc.Answer 4 — This picture shows the south side of the passage between Unit I and Unit II of the University Hospital. The camera is standing in front of Conkling Hall, looking north. The Lions Eye Institute would be built in 1974 in what was formerly the parking lot. The Lions Eye Institute has since moved to 40th street and its offices are now occupied by the geriatric clinic and geriatric specialties. The door at the center of the picture opened into the fourth floor corridor between Unit I and Unit II of the hospital. This picture was taken in 1970.
