Keith Swarts has been appointed interim assistant vice chancellor for UNMC Business and Finance Services effective today. He will continue to serve as director of business services.
“Keith has been an invaluable member of the UNMC administrative team for many years,” said Don Leuenberger, vice chancellor for Business and Finance. “He is well known and will carry on these interim responsibilities in excellent fashion. I appreciate Keith’s willingness to take on these added responsibilities during the course of the search process.”
Leuenberger also thanked Dave Melliger, who previously held the interim appointment. “I appreciate Dave’s willingness to take on those duties and the fine leadership he has provided UNMC for the past few months,” Leuenberger said. Melliger has returned as administrator for the Department of Radiology.
Swarts joined UNMC in 1974 and has served as director of business services since 1985. In that capacity, he manages about 75 people in the support functions for UNMC printing, mail services, bookstore, risk management, real estate, rental property, travel, Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), parking and homeland security.
