Brown new editor of UNMC Today

Chuck Brown is the new editor of UNMC Today.

An Omaha native, Brown previously worked in the Omaha bureau of The Associated Press as a reporter and editorial assistant.

“We are thrilled to have another strong writer join our team,” said Tom O’Connor, senior associate director of UNMC public affairs. “UNMC Today will continue to flourish under Chuck’s skills, personality and work ethic.”

Karen Burbach, who has served as UNMC Today editor since April 2000, will assume new departmental responsibilities as communications coordinator.

Brown has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he also worked on the Daily Nebraskan as a staff writer.

Brown spent four years with the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic in New Jersey before returning to Nebraska to attend UNL. He and his wife, Danielle, have two sons, Dylan, 3, and Nathan, 1. Brown enjoys playing and listening to music and watching sports.
