“Night of a Thousand Stars” event to be held Dec. 2

The 14th annual “Night of a Thousand Stars” will illuminate Omaha on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The UNMC pre-party reception and hearty hors d’oeuvres will take place at the Pauli’s Blue Room at 7 p.m.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Nebraska AIDS Project, which works closely with UNMC health care providers in treating and advocating for people with HIV/AIDS.

“This event provides the public an opportunity to show their support for people with HIV/AIDS,” said Susan Swindells, M.D., medical director of the UNMC HIV Clinic and the Terry K. Watanabe Chair of HIV Research. “It’s always a fun night, and this year should be no different.”

The theme for this year’s UNMC event is “Hollywood at the Holiday,” so don’t be surprised if you think you see Joan Rivers on the red carpet.

Come as a star or come as you are. Tickets are $40 per person. This ticket provides admission to the event and to the night’s main event, which will take place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Holiday Inn Central, 3321 S. 72nd St.

The main event entertainment will feature “Tunafish Jones,” a five-piece Lincoln band.

Last year, more than 4,000 people attended the main event. It will feature scrumptious desserts and a night full of dancing.

Tickets will be on sale outside of the Nebraska Cafe from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 28
  • Wednesday, Nov. 30
  • Friday, Dec. 1 (World AIDS Day)
