Trans-Mississippi Expo focus of Durham lecture

The Trans-Mississippi Exposition of 1898, which showcased the development of the western region, will be the focus of the Feb. 27 “Afternoon with the Durham” Brown Bag Lecture.

The lecture will be held at noon in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater.

The Trans-Mississippi Exposition was a five-month celebration that featured more than 4,000 exhibits and attracted more than 2.6 million people to Omaha.

As part of the Durham Western Heritage Museum’s “Scholars in Residence Program,” presenter David Wells invites you to revisit this remarkable event in our community’s history.

The museum is pleased to offer this lecture on campus to UNMC, UNMC Physicians and The Nebraska Medical Center employees through the “Afternoon with the Durham” series.

An evening lecture and reception also will be held on Feb. 27 at the Durham Western Heritage Museum at 6:30 p.m.

To RSVP for the noon lecture on campus, please contact Jill Carson at jlcarson@unmc.edu. To attend the evening lecture, please RSVP to Christi at 444-5071 or e-mail at cjanssen@dwhm.org. Coffee and dessert will be served following the evening presentation.
