Catering department showcasing products at open house

Over the years, The Nebraska Medical Center’s catering department has served foods ranging from ostrich meat to hamburgers. During today’s open house, its staff will demonstrate how the department can meet the culinary needs of medical center personnel.

“There’s a lot of people on campus who don’t even know we’re here,” said Kristell Boyd, catering manager for The Nebraska Medical Center. “But they eat our food at many of the events they attend on campus.”

Department heads and managers from UNMC, The Nebraska Medical Center and UNMC Physicians are invited to today’s open house, which runs from 2 to 4 p.m. in University Tower’s Private Dining Rooms A, B and C. Food samples and menus will be available.

The goal of the open house is to let people know about the department and how it can meet the on- and off-campus catering needs of employees, Boyd said.

The department caters medical center events as well as personal parties and events for employees, she said.

“We are very flexible in the services we offer and our rates are very competitive,” Boyd said. “Plus, we have an executive chef, Jason Street, who’s awesome and very capable of meeting many culinary needs.”
