Sunday bridal show to benefit Eppley Cancer Center

Future brides and others can simultaneously check out the latest in wedding fashion and support UNMC’s Eppley Cancer Center at the “Suite of Dreams Bridal Boutique and Fashion Show” on Sunday.

A bonus feature of the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in the Old Market, is that Eppley Institute professor Robert Lewis, Ph.D., will serve as a model in the fashion show.

“It proves I’ll do anything for a good cause,” Dr. Lewis said. “But I won’t be giving up my day job. I was promised it would be quick, painless and that no one who knows me would be there.”

The boutique includes hors d’oeuvres, champagne, door prizes and chance to visit with vendors such as Florals Etc, AAA Rentals, The Cakery, Complete Music and Enchanted Honeymoons. Eppley Cancer Center Director Ken Cowan, M.D., Ph.D., will make comments during the event.

Admission is $25 and ticket proceeds benefit the cancer center.

The fashion show starts at 2:15 p.m. and will be emceed by WOWT-Channel 6 anchor John Knicely. Fashions from Sposa and Mr. Tuxedo will be displayed.
