Joy brings versatile voice to ‘Music as Medicine’

picture disc.Heidi Joy will display what some call the “most versatile voice in the region” today at noon in the Durham Outpatient Center’s West Atrium.

Joy’s performance, which is sponsored by UNMC Physicians, is part of the “Music as Medicine” concert series.

Joy will be backed by three-piece band featuring Andrew Bailie on guitar, Seth Ondracek on bass and Matthew Arbeiter on drums.
Joy has sung professionally since she was 15. She performs a wide variety of genres that includes jazz, gospel, inspirational, spiritual, funk, blues, rock and classical.

Joy has performed at Joslyn Art Museum’s acclaimed “Jazz on the Green” music series, as well as the “Playing With Fire” blues concert series in Omaha.

Joy also sings the national anthem regularly at Creighton University basketball games and the College World Series.

Joy, who has released five CDs since 1999, organized and sang at concert in Omaha to benefit victims of the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia in 2004. The concert raised $50,000.

Her annual “Holiday Joy Concerts” have sold out every year since 2000.
