Seats remain available for Tuesday’s “Hidden Treasures — Selected Artifacts” lecture with Durham Western Heritage Museum Curator Luis Vasquez.

The lecture will be held at noon in Swanson Hall, Room 2013. Seating is limited to 20.
Reserve your spot today by e-mailing Jill Carson at jlcarson@unmc.edu.

Did you know that most museums — including the Durham — display less than 5 percent of the objects they own?

There are many reasons why artifacts are not exhibited. Some may be too fragile and some may not fit the museum’s mission but all tell a unique story.

Vasquez will discuss such artifacts and take lecture participants on a journey through the museum’s archives to look at some of Omaha’s “hidden treasures.”

The lecture is offered through a partnership between the medical center and the museum. This partnership also allows students and employees from UNMC, UNMC Physicians and The Nebraska Medical Center to visit the museum free year-round with valid identification.
