42nd street to close temporarily Saturday

The section of 42nd Street between Dewey and Emile streets will close temporarily on Saturday while the pedestrian bridge connecting the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education to Wittson Hall is delivered to the construction site.

Drivers can expect the section of road to be closed from 7 a.m. to about 3 p.m. Detour signs will direct drivers around the closure site.

This same section of road also will experience brief closings on Saturday, June 9 and Saturday, June 16 as the bridge is installed and concrete is poured.

Also, starting today and running through the weekend, demolition work on Wittson Hall’s east exterior wall will be done to facilitate the pedestrian bridge’s connection to the building.

The construction will affect Wittson Hall, Room 4039. In addition, a contractor will be working in Room 3035 on Saturday to do above-ceiling work. Noise and some minor vibrations may be experienced in rooms near the construction.
