42nd street to close Saturday for pedestrian bridge installation

The pedestrian bridge attaching Wittson Hall to the new Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education will be set in place on Saturday. The section of 42nd Street between Dewey and Emile streets will temporarily close to facilitate the construction.

The section of 42nd Street between Dewey and Emile streets will close temporarily on Saturday while the pedestrian bridge connecting the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education to Wittson Hall is set in place.

Drivers can expect the section of road to be closed from 7 a.m. to about 3 p.m.

Detour signs will be posted at Emile Street to direct northbound 42nd Street traffic to 40th Street, then to Dewey Avenue to gain access to Clarkson Tower. Southbound traffic from Dodge Street to Leavenworth Street will be detoured at Dewey Avenue to 40th Street then to Leavenworth Street, or back on Emile Street to gain access to University Tower.

This same section of road also will experience a brief closing on Saturday, June 16 for more installation work on the pedestrian bridge.
