Kyle Meyer, Ph.D., associate dean of the UNMC School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP), has been named to Leadership Omaha’s 30th class.

The community leadership-training program, sponsored by the Greater Omaha Chamber Foundation, is designed to motivate individuals to develop a sense of community trusteeship.

The 10-month program, which includes monthly full-day seminars on various topics, encourages participants to assume leadership roles in community affairs and develop awareness of the Omaha community. The new class will gather for a retreat in September.

“This will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with emerging and established leaders across the community,” Dr. Meyer said. “UNMC is an integral part of the community and participation in the Leadership Omaha class can only serve to enhance that relationship. I am honored to have been selected to participate on behalf of UNMC.”

“Leadership Omaha excels in bringing emerging leaders throughout the city together to help our community prosper,” said Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for external affairs for UNMC and a past participate of the program. “We are pleased to have Kyle represent UNMC and the School of Allied Health Professions in this year’s class. The program will pay dividends for Kyle — as well as for SAHP, UNMC and the city — as participants work together to educate, employee and enhance the lives of those in our community.”

Dr. Meyer, associate dean of SAHP since August 2006, continues UNMC’s representation in the Leadership Omaha program. In addition to Bartee, past UNMC participants have included: John Adams, Ph.D., Rick Boldt, Linda Cunningham, Sandy Goetzinger-Comer, Ken Hansen, Magda Peck, Sc.D., Lisa Runco, Keith Swarts, Alan Wass and Auda Whitney-Jackson.
