Million-step Monday – activity conversions







Gold Shoe reminder



Those wishing to compete for the Gold and Silver Shoe awards should send their November step totals to today@unmc.edu by Monday, Dec. 3.



Here is a list of conversions that shows how many steps you can log for performing exercises other than walking (Conversions are based on 15 minute intervals):

  • Water aerobics or lap swimming = 1,800 steps
  • Jogging (at a 9-minute mile pace) = 3,000 steps
  • Biking (10 to 12 miles per hour) = 1,500 steps
  • Circuit training = 1,000 steps
  • Ice-skating/hockey = 3,000 steps
  • Horseback riding = 3,000 steps
  • Gardening = 1,000 steps
  • Housecleaning = 1,000 steps
  • Shopping = 1,000 steps

The following is a list of UNMC employees who have recently reached one of the 250,000-step markers in the 1 Million Step Challenge. Send an e-mail to today@unmc.edu with your name, department and tell us what step milestone you reached and we’ll post it on the list.

1 million steps
