More than 100 people attended the College of Medicine’s Parents and Family Association fall reception earlier his month.

Students and parents from the college attended the reception, which was held Nov. 9 at the UNMC Alumni House.

The association, which was established in 2004 and is supported by the College of Medicine Alumni Association, has more than 130 members. Its purpose is to support College of Medicine students, provide a support network for parents and family members and inform parents and family members of college and campus updates.

“It was wonderful seeing so many College of Medicine students and their parents at the Parents and Family Association Reception,” Alumni Affairs Director Kim Cuda said. “The reception provides a great opportunity for parents to network with each other.”

The event featured remarks by Jim Reilly, M.D., a 1985 College of Medicine graduate and president of the college’s alumni association, and Bob O’Neal, president of the Parents and Family Association and father to fourth-year medical student David Rupiper.

Dr. Reilly thanked everyone for their support of the students, who will soon be UNMC alumni and O’Neal reported on how the association’s support allowed several events to be held including the Class of 2011 Post Comp Party, Class of 2010 June Term Picnic and Class of 2007 Senior Banquet.
