DARPA director visits UNMC

Brett Giroir, M.D., director of the DARPA Defense Sciences Office, visited UNMC on Tuesday to discuss possible research funding opportunties with medical center scientists.

DARPA stands for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which is the Department of Defense’s central research and development organization. DARPA funds high-risk, high-reward research that stands to significantly benefit the Department of Defense’s mission.

Tom O’Connor of UNMC Public Affairs interviewed Dr. Giroir about DARPA, what the organization looks for in research and what DARPA finds attractive at UNMC.
