More than 70 students came from near and far to attend the eighth annual College of Medicine Research Fair on Tuesday in the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium.

First-year students at UNMC were joined by undergraduates from local schools such as Creighton University, the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Nebraska Wesleyan University, and more distant institutions such as Notre Dame University and Texas Christian University in taking a look at some of the research being done by College of Medicine scientists.

In all, about 48 posters describing UNMC research jammed the atrium during the fair, which was sponsored by the UNMC College of Medicine and Office of Research and Development.

“The fair gives our scientists a chance to inform current and prospective students about the research going on here, which might lead interested students to get involved in some of these projects,” said Sonya Cox, program coordinator of the M.D./Ph.D. Scholars Program in the Office of Research and Development.
