UNMC community forsees a perfect ending for the Patriots

picture disc.UNMC community members have spoken and by and large they see Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England trumping the New York Giants on Sunday to win Super Bowl XLII and complete a perfect 19-0 season.

Twelve people told UNMC Today the Patriots will prevail, eight (including UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D.) said the Giants will pull off the upset and one employee is putting all her chips on the television advertisers being the big winners.

Here are some comments from the UNMC community about Sunday’s matchup:

“New England Patriots 38, NY Giants 17. The Giants don’t stand a chance here. New England has too much talent.”— Perry Elmore, business and finance

“Patriots all the way.”— Chris Schiltz, College of Dentistry

“I really would like to see the Giants win as they are the underdogs. But it would be history and neat though to see the Pats win with such a fantastic record. At any rate, I pick the Giants! Final answer!”— Deanna Hansen, College of Medicine

“Given two weeks to prepare, Bill Belichick can beat any team, any
time, anywhere.”— Michael Gleason, cancer research graduate program

“31-17 Pats. (The Giants) will be within one touchdown at halftime but the Pats pull ahead in the second half. Too much firepower for the Giants. Tom Brady gets the trophy, another MVP and the girl.”— UNMC student Nathan Murdoch

“Patriots to win. 🙁 I Hope I am wrong as I would like to see the NFC finally win one!”— Green Bay Packers Fan Lindsey Chappell, College of Medicine

“I say that the Giants pull off the upset with a final score of 35-24. (Giants quarterback Eli Manning) has transformed … into a well-greased machine this post-season and the Patriots are already celebrating their believed 19-0 season. I think the Giants come out to play and win.”— John Evans, College of Medicine

“Giants win 34-31 because their offensive and defensive lines will win the battles in the trenches. They’ll be able to run the ball with Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw and chew up clock to keep Tom Brady and Randy Moss off of the field.”— Paul Hrnicek, business and finance

“I pick the advertisers.”— Maggie Stewart-Grant, public affairs

“The New England Patriots will beat the New York Giants — 42 to 28.”— Sonya Cox, College of Medicine

“Pats 31, Giants 17. Perfect season. … They are the best ever.”— Walter Murphy, Eppley Institute

“New England 38, NY 14. Because Tom Brady is a rock star and Bill Belichick is so warm and fuzzy with the media.”— Tom O’Connor, public affairs

“The PATS, of course!!!!!!!!!!”— Karen Stoysich, College of Medicine

“The Giants recruited young players who are not necessarily MVPs. They were recruited because they could do a particular task exceptionally well. They were told to concentrate on doing this task perfectly every game day. They did this individually, at first, but as each got better they finally came together as a team. … The Giants have recently internalized this process and became a ‘team’ on the road. This confidence has them on the upswing. … If the Giant defense can move Brady the rock of Gibraltar out of the pocket, the Giants have a chance. Giants 27, Patriots 24.”— Vito Caragiulo, chemical and radiation safety
