Joyce Dolson, custodial leader at the College of Dentistry, recently received the university’s EEVACS (Effective, Efficient, Value-Added, Cost Savings) Award for her efforts at the college on the night of Feb. 1 when she held a busted water pipe together for more than 50 minutes until a plumber arrived.
Dolson’s quick thinking and actions helped avoid a huge flood that would have sent hundreds of gallons of water into the college’s Lincoln building and caused significant damage, said her manager, Ken Ziems.
“Joyce really saved the day!” Ziems said.
