Several UNMC students took home awards from the 39th Annual Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum, which was held recently at the Embassy Suites in downtown Omaha.

Among the UNMC winners were Jennifer Bailey, a graduate student in the Eppley Institute Cancer Research Graduate Program, who won a first place award for an oral presentation on her research; and John Eggers, a graduate student in the Eppley Institute, who won first prize for his poster presentation.

More than 120 students from 10 Midwest medical institutions attended the forum, which allows students to present original research in oral and/or poster meeting format.

The research is judged and cash awards are given to winning students.

Both Bailey and Eggers won $500 for their efforts.
