Flag lowering to honor longtime UNMC supporter

The UNMC flags outside the Durham Outpatient Center have been lowered to half-staff to honor UNMC supporter Charles “Chuck” Durham, who died April 5 at the age of 90.

Durham, chairman and chief executive of Durham Resources, built Omaha-based HDR Inc., into an international architectural and engineering company. At UNMC, his name was synonymous with research excellence as he, and his late wife, Margre, donated untold millions to transform the state’s only public academic health science center.

The single largest donor to the University of Nebraska in lifetime giving, Durham has donated untold millions of dollars of support for two 10-story research towers at UNMC and established funds to benefit arthritis, prostate cancer and non-invasive surgery.
