The Charles Turner home at 33rd and Farnam streets will be among those featured during the April 22 trolley tour of mid-town Omaha’s mansions.

The Durham Museum invites students and staff of UNMC, The Nebraska Medical Center and UNMC Physicians on an April 22 trolley tour through the historic Gold Coast and Cathedral neighborhoods of mid-town Omaha.

Hop on Ollie the Trolley and visit west Omaha of the early 1900s. See where many of Omaha’s most influential early residents built their majestic homes and hear stories about how these founding families lived and how their contributions influenced the growth of the city.

The tour includes Joslyn Castle, the beautiful home of George and Sarah Joslyn, the Zabrinski house, built in 1889, and the magnificent mansion that Gottlieb Storz lived in, as well as the wedding present he had built for his daughter.

The tour will begin at noon on Tuesday, April 22, and will last approximately one hour. The trolley will be located for pickup outside the Durham Research Center on Durham Research Plaza (formerly 45th street). Seating is limited to 42 people and reservations must be made in advance. Contact Jill Carson at jlcarson@unmc.edu to reserve your space. A $5 cash payment will be collected at the time of the tour prior to boarding the trolley.

The tour is offered through the Time Travelers partnership, which provides free museum admission for medical center employees, students, and their immediate family with a valid identification badge, while also offering lectures, workshops and other events on the medical center campus.
