Tom Osborne, Chip Davis to headline Omaha wellness expo

picture disc.University of Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne and Manheim Steamroller’s Chip Davis will be among the speakers at the Omaha Health, Wellness & Fitness Expo this weekend in the Omaha Civic Auditorium’s Exhibition Hall.

Osborne will kick off the expo at 10 a.m. on Saturday with comments about the Ornish Program, meditation, yoga and his views on staying healthy and fit. Davis, the Grammy Award-winning composer and musician, will present “Sound Healing Through Ambient Therapy” at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Miss Nebraska Micaela Johnson will join Osborne in making opening comments. Johnson — an actress, model and former Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader — will discuss the importance of eating healthy foods and incorporating activity into one’s daily routine.

“I encourage our employees to go to this event and learn about some of the exciting new developments and ideas in wellness,” UNMC Wellness Manager Jayme Nekuda said.

The expo — which starts after comments from Osborne and Johnson — will run until 7 p.m. on Satuday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the event is free.

The 2008 Omaha Health Expo is the largest health fair pertaining to wellness, fitness, the mind, body and spirit in the Midwest. More than 250 exhibitors and 50 seminars will be featured.
