Million-step Monday — Gold and silver incentive

After he won the February Gold Shoe, Greg McFadden of the Health Professions Tracking Center placed a Gerbera Daisy surrounded by some eucalyptus springs sits in the Gold Shoe. This is just one possible way to use the shoe should you win it in April.

Those who want to compete for the April Gold and Silver Shoes can chew on this as they walk — the winners for April get to keep the shoes.

That’s right, wrack up one of the two top step totals in April and you get to keep a spray-painted, used running shoe — forever! What can be better than that?

As has been demonstrated already by Gold Shoe winners Greg McFadden and Julie Carstens — the shoes can serve special decorative purposes.

Imagine welcoming each new season by placing a seasonal plant in the Gold Shoe or holding down that stack of important documents with your Silver Shoe paper weight. The possibilities are endless, really.

Anyway, the deadline for April step submissions is 5 p.m. on Monday, May 5 and the competition’s final winners will be announced on Monday, May 12. Send your April step totals to today@unmc.edu and see if you win.

Happy Monday!
