Million step Monday – landmark videos

Landmark videos

Jayme Nekuda of the Center for Healthy Living took a trip across Nebraska and stopped at the milestone points of the UNMC 1 Million-Step Challenge — Aurora, Gothenburg, Chappell and Chimney Rock.

Click on the images below to see video clips from Nekuda’s trip, which feature facts about the each milestone point.

Aurora, 250,000 steps, 125 miles from Omaha (1:53)

Gothenburg, 500,000 steps, 250 miles from Omaha (1:11)

Chappell, 750,000 steps, 375 miles from Omaha (1:13)

Chimney Rock, 1,000,000 steps, 500 miles from Omaha (1:13)

Alright, on to some housekeeping items. The last day to log steps for the 1 Million Step Challenge is May 14, which is next Wednesday.

Also, those who want to turn in step totals to claim prizes have until May 16 to do so, Nekuda said.

Nekuda also has passes that get challenge participants into both Fontenelle Forest Nature Center and Neale Woods Nature Center for free.

The passes — which expire Dec. 31 — are available on a first come, first serve basis at the Center for Healthy Living.

For more information about the passes, contact Nekuda at 559-8448 or jnekuda@unmc.edu.

Finally, the April Gold and Silver Shoe step totals are due today at 5 p.m. As was noted last week, the April winners get to keep the shoes!
