Ryan Sewell, M.D., house officer IV in the UNMC Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, has received a fellowship match at the prestigious Children’s Hospital Boston — the primary pediatric teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Dr. Sewell to learn in a prestigious institution,” said Donald Leopold, M.D., chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. “Children’s Hospital Boston is one of the nation’s top hospitals specializing in pediatric care.”

Dr. Sewell is in his fourth year with UNMC’s otolaryngology-head and neck surgery department. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine, as well as the University of Iowa College of Law. Dr. Sewell completed a UNMC internship in general surgery in 2005.

Children’s Hospital Boston awards only three fellowships per year. Dr. Sewell will begin his one-year fellowship in June 2009.
