Lookin’ at U — Pam McCright

picture disc.Quick, think of five things others should know about you.

That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.”

Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee to feature.

This week, we feature Pam McCright, senior buyer in the UNMC Procurement office.

Here, in her own words, are five fun facts about Pam:

Pam McCright

  • I grew up in Fargo, N.D. When I am tired the accent is pretty noticeable.

  • I started swimming competitively when I was 6 years old and continued until my sophomore year in college. Way back then they didn’t have organized competitive sports for girls in North Dakota so my mother got a bunch of kids together and formed a swim team. She was our coach, motivator, chaperone and chauffeur. We were pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.

  • I met my husband Craig, when he was working part time at Bill Bailey’s Banjo Bar. How could I resist a guy with a garter belt around his biceps, wearing a Styrofoam hat singing “Won’t you come Home Bill Bailey.”

  • Craig was in the Air Force. We traveled a lot and enjoyed every minute of it. However, I was still in college when we got married. It took me six colleges, in five cities and three countries, before I finally graduated with a business degree.

  • I love to golf. Even though I am still reading and trying to master the book, “How to Line Up your Fourth Putt.”
