UNMC/NHS, Metro Credit Union to launch UNeCard+

Beginning Monday, Aug. 5, UNMC/NHS employees will have the opportunity to add a convenience feature to their identification badges. On that day, UNMC, working with Metro Health Services Federal Credit Union, will launch the UNeCard+ program.

UNeCard+ uses available technology to give employees a convenient way to access funds and make purchases on campus without using cash. You simply select a PIN (Personal Identification Number) and your identification card will function like an ATM/Debit card.

There is no fee to participate, but card holders must have a Metro Credit Union account or request one. Setting up a savings account usually requires a $5 minimum deposit, but during the Aug. 5-16 promotional period Metro officials will make the $5 deposit for each new account holder.

Employees will be able to use their UNeCard+ to make free cash withdrawals from any of Metro Credit Union’s six on-campus automatic teller machines or to make purchases from any of the following UNeCard+ campus locations:

  • Nebraska Café
  • Clarkson Café
  • Gourmet Bean
  • NHS Pharmacy
  • UNMC Book Store
  • Crossroads Express
  • Storz Pavilion

The UNeCard+ transactions are completed with no service charge and the purchases will be paid using funds coming directly from a Metro Credit Union account.

To add the convenience of cash transactions to your existing employee identification badge, or to obtain your new employee identification card, stop by one of the following locations in the next two weeks:

Aug. 5-9 — University Hospital Private Dining Room A
Monday/Wednesday/Friday — 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday — 7 to 10 a.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.

Aug. 12-16 — Clarkson Café
Monday through Friday — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Representatives from the credit union and the I.D. Card office will be on hand to answer questions and sign individuals up for the program. Everyone who activates their UNeCard+ during the two-week promotional period also will receive a free UNeCard+ T-shirt.

During the promotion, the Photo ID office will remain open in the Center for Healthy Living for individuals who wish to stop by for their new employee identification cards. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
